Banff is an awesome place to party. The crowd is exciting and you meet people from all over the world… there really is no shortage of Aussies, Brits or Kiwis. The bars are all relatively close to each other so you can essentially barhop when you get bored of one. There’s always an after party somewhere. And of course, the poutine you can get after the bar is amazing (check out Aardvark’s, just do it). Follow our guide for insights on how to have the best night ever.
This place is a local favorite and it’s pretty much always bustling so go a bit earlier if you have a big group and want a table together. It’s located right underneath Dancing Sasquatch Nightclub so it’s an excellent option if you’re planning on having a big night out. If you’re there for dinner, try out their $7 steak sandwich!
Eddie Burger Bar
I’ll be honest, this place is tiny and usually not the most exciting place to start your night but stop in and grab one of their signature cocktails on the way to your destination because they’re amazing. I highly recommend trying the famous Trash Can. My second choice would have to be the Ice Water (yes, there’s alcohol in it).
Rose & Crown
This is the place to catch a good band, grab a pint or play a bit of pool.
All the locals gather here on Wednesday nights for Open Mic Night, which is a total blast.
Wild Bill’s Saloon
Ready to put on your dancing shoes? Check out the best dance floors in Banff:
Dancing Sasquatch Nightclub
This club is cabin themed… of course. You’re in Banff, duh. The newest club to hit Banff Avenue is an exciting place to catch some awesome Canadian DJs and dance the night away. If your feet are hurting, sit back and relax in the unique “sauna” styled room they’ve created. Don’t know what to order? Get the Time Machine – a $9 mega drink that will hit you hard.
Since its partner nightclub Aurora recently closed, Hoodoo is the only other option if you’re looking for a typical nightclub with some good beats. They also do ‘Fishbowl Fridays’, if you’re looking to get drunk on the cheap!
Devil’s Gap Bar
This bar is rocker themed and plays some heavier metal and hosts the occasional band or DJ. The crowd is definitely more alternative so you wouldn’t want to wear your fancier club dresses to this place but it’s an awesome place for a more laidback night out. Note: DON’T ring the bell at the bar unless you want to buy everyone at the bar a shot (see below).
I have so much love for this place. It’s honestly the best place to end up after a long night out. Their menu is huge and it’s all amazing but my favorites would have to be the poutine, the chicken Caesar salad and the yam fries.
As I mentioned, these places are ALL walking distance from each other and it’s quite honestly easy to hit them all up in a single weekend. Have fun!
